It all began in Brighton for Giles Bravery 40 something years ago....

Giles was bred into racing and it was natural progression that he started training racehorses just as his father had. He's been saddling winners for over 22 years now.

Following a short career in cattle, including a stint in Australia, Giles came to Newmarket in 1987 where he worked at the National Stud. He then went on to work at Haras de la Louvière in France. Venturing back to Racing HQ, Giles then became Assistant Trainer to Lord John Fitzgerald before becoming Assistant to Mark Tompkins.

In 1991 Giles started training from Albert House Stables, a tiny yard in Newmarket situated at the bottom of Bury Road, with the help of his wife Fiona. Giles then moved to Revida Pace on the Hamilton Road before finally settling into his current yard; Charnwood Stables. Giles holds a dual license and has been known to have a couple of jumpers in the yard to keep him extra busy over the winter.

Throughout his career the emphasis has been on two year olds, having trained the legendary 2yo Torgau. Torgau won the 1999 Group Two Cherry Hinton Stakes and finished second in the Group One Moyglare Stud Stakes and the Group One Cheveley Park Stakes. She was named European Champion Two-Year-Old Filly of 1999 at the Cartier Racing Awards.

In his spare time Giles enjoys shooting and spending time with his family. He has 2 children, Harry and Lily.
